At 68, She Started Weightlifting After a Back Injury and Arthritis. Now She Leg Presses 120kg

Studied: A 68-year-old woman in Delhi with knee arthritis and a spinal injury

A true story, not a study — one woman's result won't happen for everyone. But Roshni Devi Sangwan is a living example of what the research on this page describes: after a spinal injury and arthritis at 68, she started with 5kg and built up to a 110kg deadlift by 70, training consistently, adding weight gradually, eating enough protein, and resting well. Her back pain eased so much her doctor told her to just keep going to the gym.
